Many, many thanks to WNMU for having licensed the "Beat Latino" special for Labor Day. It´s all about work/trabajo! Songs and rhythms all about working too much, not enough, looking for work and basically celebrating the hard-work of Latinos to this land! Mil gracias a WNMU por haber comprado la licencia del programa especial de "Beat Latino" el Día del Trabajo. Tenemos canciones de mucho trabajo, poco trabajo, el buscar trabajo y de vez en cuando olvidarnos del mismo. Pero siempre, siempre celebrando la inmensa labor que aportan los latinos a este país.

Maldito Feisbú! The many mysteries of Rita Indiana

Really enjoying this Dominican artist I discovered recently: Rita Indiana and her band Los Misterios. Check her out! Of course, I learned about her partly on Feisbú (Dominican for Fb) because noticing that she was mentioned both there and in a blog, by a Chilean tour manager and by a D.J. from Toronto, respectively, I figured a Dominican musician of interest in two continents had to be worth checking out. And she is! Love what she does to merengue-mambo violento in the second clip, "El blues del ping pong". Maldito feisbú!


¡Me encanta esta artista! ¡Voy descubriendo poco a poco sus muchísimos talentos! Y hay que saber que me medio enteré de ella por el maldito feisbú. Primero la mencionó allí un chileno y luego un DJ de Toronto la comentó en su blog, con lo que me decidí que había que investigar de que se trataba...Enjoy! Espero también disfruten los nuevos aires que le da al merengue-mambo violento en "Blues de Ping Pong".
